Founded in 1955, the National Institute of Metrology (NIM) is China’s national metrology institute (NMI) and the national technical center for legal metrology. Its major tasks include：developing and maintaining national measurement standards and realizing their international equivalence; ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement values across the country through verification and calibration services; and conducting research in fundamental and applied science areas in response to national needs.
